Every Seed is a Longing: Seed Saving and Garden Planning for Uncertain Times

Join Lesley Numbers and Clare Kritter for an afternoon of seed saving, garden planning, and intention setting for an unknown future. Together we’ll collect seeds, exchange gardening ideas and strategies in an era of climate collapse, and dream up intentions and hopes for the seasons ahead. Participants will leave with an abundance of seeds ~ including a variety of medicinal and drought resistant plants, botanical paper envelopes, and a handmade zine Every Seed is a Longing.

10/30/23 Update: Due to very cold and rainy weather, we’ve decided to hold this class indoors at Hedge Meadow Herbs + Apothecary in Mazomanie, WI. Details will be sent prior to class. The class was originally planned to be three hours long, but since we’ll no longer be spending time in the garden, it may not last as long as expected. Plan to be in attendance for at least 2 hours, potentially up to 3 hours max. We appreciate your flexibility.

About the Teacher:

Lesley Anne Numbers (she/her) is an artist, educator, mama and dog lover. She has been nurturing unruly gardens for years and loves the inspirational and hopeful nature of flowers. Every Seed is a Longing* originated as a community-based art project and series of artists' books around seed saving and idea exchange. This current iteration is inspired by many artists and earth-tenders, most notably brontë velez, adrienne maree brown, Dori Midnight, Mary Good and Kate Clearlight.

*The phrase "every seed is a longing" comes from Kahlil Gibran's poem Sand and Foam.

Cost: $45

Includes all instruction and materials, but if you have seeds to share, please bring them!
