Winter is a long season in our part of the world. It can feel supportive to mark the midpoint as a reassurance that the seasonal wheel still goes round, and light and life will return once again.
Let’s come together to honor Imbolc, the midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, by weaving the ancient symbol of the Brigid’s Cross using willow! Not only does this make a beautiful decoration, but its form is a reference to the returning sun and is considered a symbol of protection to hang by your door.
We’ll discuss the traditions, themes, and phenology associated with Imbolc, and we’ll incorporate reflection and simple rituals into our handmaking time to infuse our art and ourselves with the energy of this seasonal moment.
