Ghosts Love Old Things: An Evening of Altar Building and Spirited Stories

Friday, October 13th 7-9pm

In this improvisational workshop, we’ll explore the highly personal and deeply communal nature of building and maintaining an altar. Over the course of the evening, we'll discuss the wide-ranging practices and uses of altars and offerings, consider the many ways to work with an altar, share stories of ghosts and ancestors, and collaborate to create a community altar at Hedge Meadow.

The workshop includes a hand-printed mini-zine, Ghosts Love Old Things, and an altar cloth/dust rag (everything is sacred) to keep you inspired on your altar building journey.

Please bring a few items you are willing to share in a community altar and consider some intentions you hope to contribute to the space. Items could include things found in nature, a poem, a piece of art, a candle, a photograph, a potion--even the intangible, like a blessing spoken out loud; the possibilities are truly endless. I cannot guarantee your objects will be returned, so please do not contribute anything that you need back.

This class will be held at Hedge Meadow Herbs + Apothecary located at 25 Brodhead in Mazomanie, Wisconsin.
