Saturday, October 14th 3pm-5pm
Join Rachael Gonzalez (artist, folk herbalist, broom maker, bodyworker of FAMILIAR) for an evening of magical lore as we deep dive into the living sauna traditions of northern Europe & the nordic region. She will take you through her own six years of research & experience sweat bathing across the Northwoods of the US and on the lands of her people; we will discuss the elements of the sauna, etiquette & what to expect during traditional sauna, spirits of the sauna, sauna tools, sauna plants, sauna folk magic - and more!

About the Teacher:
Rachael Gonzalez, B.A., L.M.T., R.M. (she, her, they, them) is a licensed massage therapist, reiki master, and artist living and working in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their business is trauma informed and anti-racist. As a white person of Swedish-American ancestry, Rachael works daily to become a better ally by educating herself and family about discrimination, equal access, cultural appropriation, and what it means to be actively anti-racist in the face of white apathy. Rachael is also an artist weaving handmade brooms and baskets, writing zines, and making drawings, paintings, and prints about healing, ritual, the natural world, and community. Lastly, Rachael runs a blog called Cozy Milwaukee where they discuss coziness as self care through the lens of their Scandinavian-American heritage.
