Hands-On Fermented Veggies Workshop

  • Hedge Meadow Herbs + Apothecary 25 Brodhead Street Mazomanie, WI, 53560 United States (map)

The time of vegetable abundance is fast approaching! In preparation for the upcoming growing season, join Emma Kloes to increase your confidence + expand your practice in fermenting vegetables. This is a hands-on class—each student will create and take home their own jar of fermented goods of their choosing: a classic cabbage kraut, a multi vegetable kraut, or kimchi. Students will learn fermentation processes and methods, and we’ll discuss the traditional recipes and ways to spice them up.

About the Teacher:

Emma Kloes (she/her) sees farming, caring for the land, cooking, and food preservation as pathways to deepen connection with self, community, and our natural ecosystems. She has been an organic vegetable farmer for over four years at local Dane County farms and at her home-based subsistence farm. Opportunity to utilize a surplus of produce sparked intrigue in canning and fermenting, and she hopes to share what she’s learned after years of both mistakes and successes.

Cost: $40

Includes all materials to make your own jar of fermented vegetables.
