Join Kayle and Sarah as we explore the possibilities of colors from summer garden and native plants. Sarah will guide you on how to obtain various colors from cosmos, coreopsis, calendula, yarrow and jewelweed and use them to dye a tea towel. Inspired by Kayle’s flower essence practice, Kayle will introduce you to lore, and the magical and medicinal properties of each plant we dye with as a way to infuse intention into your dyed objects. All supplies, snacks and beverages will be provided
About the Teachers:
Sarah Eichhorn (she/her) is a fiber artist, educator and caregiver located in Milwaukee, WI. She has a background in all things fiber, from sewing to weaving to knitting. She enjoys gardening and growing her own dye plants. Her making is functional and focuses on sustainability- use the quilts, wash the towels and wear the clothes! When she’s not making, she can be found at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, teaching classes on fashion and fibers.
Kayle Karbowski (she/they) is a facilitator and artist living on the western banks of Lake Michigan. In 2019, she founded Other Dust, a psychospiritual consultancy & technoapothecary focused on developing intuition and reclaiming interdependence in an age of disconnection. A driving force of Kayle’s work is rekindling the relationship between our intellect and intuition. Kayle works between art, herbalism, animism, mythology, and homesteading in contemporary urban living.
